14 MIN Total Body Sculpt + 13 MIN Cardio Tabata Sweat

Focus : 

14 minutes ALL-STANDING total body sculpting and toning workout using a resistance band on the mat. You will never lie down for this one, it’s all standing, so be ready to also challenge your balance! This is functional fitness! Then, 13 fast minutes of 20 seconds on – 10 seconds off Tabata rounds. You’ll have 3 full rounds of 8 exercises in 4 minute intervals and you’ll be trying to get as many reps as possible (AMRAP) within each of the timed intervals! A great way to raise the roof on that heart rate and then keep the fat burning benefits long after you have stopped moving. Today will be quick and very effective. Get ready to challenge your stamina too.

This is day 2, week 3, of our Summer Fit Program!

Remember the rule: if you do not have access to the equipment used (a resistance band & hand weight in this case), today just follow the whole workout using body weight only! 👍🏼

Equipment Needed : 

For Part 1: your mat and a resistance band. But if you don’t have it just do the workout with body weight. Part 2: 1 heavier hand weight or kettle bell. Again, if you don’t have this at your disposal, feel free to do the exercise with body weight only.

The Course of this Class :

Get ready for some fun and very coordinated moves combining lower and upper body. We’ll do lots of single leg standing balance, stabilizing one side to mobilize another. Working with weight transfer, delt flies and lat pulls, squats and lunges and more. Our tabata round is also total body from kettle bell swings to split jumps, planks and push ups to side lying. You’ll work every plane, head to toe toning and shaping while also picking up that heart rate to burn fat and excess calories. Compare this Tabata on a 20 second work to 10 second rest ratio as opposed to some of our other Tabata prior in this series where we are on a 60 second work to 10 second rest ratio! Today will go quicker but the work intervals also go by extremely fast.

Class Level : 

Intermediate level taught today, but class is meant to be accessible to all levels. Modify where you need to, always listen to your body and put yourself up to the challenge.

Goals : 

Improve functional strength and balance. Increase overall strength, tone and muscle shape. Burn fat and build lean muscle tone. Keep fit during summer while maintaining time for summer’s extra activities. Quick, effective workouts. Fat burning even after the workout is over.
