The Course of this Class : The Jackknife is a fabulous exercise for the triceps, backs of shoulders and upper back postural muscles. The same exercise from the Mat to the Reformer with the additional challenge of the hands in the straps. Today we’ll be going over the classical exercise, covering the basic principles of moving into and out of the position. We’ll talk about the set up of the Reformer as well as our positioning. I hope that this tutorial clarifies this exercise, making it more approachable and understandable for your own practice! If you haven’t yet watched the How To for the Roll Over make sure to check that out as the jackknife is basically a progression from the Roll Over.
Pilates depends on certain technical foundations, understanding these better will set you up for success in your practice; protect you from injuring yourself; as well as teach you the best alignment your body can achieve! Plus, practicing with the right form, you’ll get A TON more out of the exercise, your level will increase quickly if you stick to it, and so will your results!
