The teaser focuses on the core and hip flexors.
This exercise is considered an intermediate level exercise. But this tutorial is FOR EVERYONE! 😉
The Teaser is a challenging exercise, also more widely known as a “v-sit” in the fitness and gym world. In Pilates we go further by asking the client to extend their legs as a long lever when lifting and holding that v-sit position. This requires the spine to be flexible, particularly the lumbar spine. If you have a “stiff” back you will want to work on foam rolling that out to release the muscles in the low back so that you are able to tuck the tail bone underneath you. This is key in the teaser. We also develop the ability to move our pelvis over our leg bones as opposed to moving the two together as one. This is excellent for the health of the hip capsule. Today, we will cover all of this and notably what makes the teaser different on the Reformer as opposed to the mat. For walking through the teaser on the mat, please see the below tutorial.
