Pilates cross training..
Equipment Needed :
Magic Circle/Pilates Ring.
Ladder Barrel or Longbox and Fitball.
Reformer. Jumpboard.
Focus : Pilates cross training, that’s today focus, keeping the mind and body fully engaged and focused. By moving from one piece of equipment to the next (and don’t worry if you don’t have all the equipment, you can easily improvise!!) we add extra challenge.
Class Level : Intermediate – Advanced.
The Course of this Class : We will be using 3 pieces of equipment to simulate a Pilates cross training effect so we keep the mind engaged and the body on its toes! Start off strong with the stomach 5 series over a small base of support on the long box or barrel. This forces core engagement and connection, so no cheating ;) ! Move right into counter balancing that with some beautiful extension work over the stability ball. Then onto the Reformer to work your entire body. Continue to challenge your posterior chain strength and mobility; lift up into planks front and back; and finish off with some cardio jumping.
There are a fair amount of intermediate to advanced exercises included in this session : Long Back Stretch, Tendon Stretch, Front Leg Pull, Back Leg Pull, Short Box Climb a Tree, Breaststroke. Please make sure you are ready for them. In all, you’ll be moving that spine in all its directions, strengthening 360 around!
Goals : We want to challenge our whole system, a complete mind and body workout today. In doing so, we are also going to challenge our core on small surfaces where we cannot cheat, so taking it to the next level.
