The Course of this Class : Pulling Straps Pilates exercise is a fabulous classical Reformer exercise which strengthens the backs of arms and shoulders like little else! It is simple enough yet so challenging and so effective. Though it appears simple, so as to not even require any tutorial, it is important to be sure to be performing it correctly to get the maximum benefit. In this tutorial we will cover the benefits, the set up, and most importantly the body positioning, alignment and muscular engagement necessary in each variation of the exercise series.
I recommend practicing this particular exercise series at least 3x/week if not more as it is crucial to maintaining healthy posture and strong back muscles. Remember this series is best done slowly, with intention, not quickly as much of the benefit will be lost using momentum. So I hope that this tutorial helps you in your own practice to improve alignment, positioning and posture.
Pilates depends on certain technical foundations, understanding these better will set you up for success in your practice; protect you from injuring yourself; as well as teach you the best alignment your body can achieve! Plus, practicing with the right form, you’ll get A TON more out of the exercise, your level will increase quickly if you stick to it, and so will your results!
