The Course of this Class : The Long Spine is a fabulous exercise to heat up the backs of the legs, build lean muscle tone, and cinch in your legs’ silhouette! Win-win! I find it most replicates feet in straps on the Cadillac which is also mighty strong for reshaping the legs! Today we’ll be going over the classical exercise, covering the basic principles of moving into and out of the position. Later, in many videos you’ll see me use this as a base model for fun variations with the wooden dowel strung through the straps for example. The trickiest part of this exercise is starting it in the right position so that you can maintain that constant pressure in the straps without your carriage moving. Once you are able to find that spot and maintain that position, the rest will flow. So we hope that this tutorial sheds more light on how to get into and out of the position, making it more approachable and understandable for your own practice!
Pilates depends on certain technical foundations, understanding these better will set you up for success in your practice; protect you from injuring yourself; as well as teach you the best alignment your body can achieve! Plus, practicing with the right form, you’ll get A TON more out of the exercise, your level will increase quickly if you stick to it, and so will your results!
